¿Por qué Nicaragua?

Because I wanted to celebrate a big birthday in a big way. I thought if I could be in a different kind of place, living a different way of life, I might be able to think differently. Clear my head. Shed the old skin. Find out if there really is life in the old dog yet.

I'm older, yes, but I'm wiser

El Sauce is a town in the department (province) of León, Nicaragua. Translated from the Spanish, it means The Willow.

El Sauce got its name when a statue of El Cristo Negro (The Black Christ) of Esquipulas was sent to the town from Guatemala and placed under a willow tree. (Or something like that. I've heard a few versions of the story.)
